COURSE DESCRIPTION
The nature of this course is to integrate the technology of digital media and the language of visual/audio communication as they relate to art, design, structure, time, narrative and personal aesthetics. The course will cover fundamentals of Sight and Sound, Storytelling, Cinematography, Editing, Directing, and an overview of Cinema Studies/History, Modes of Documentary and Fiction.

Assignments are competed within the allocated time.
  • At Least 5 Shorts Films on Vimeo
  • At Least 2 Film competition  Entries
  • Attending At Least one Film Festival Screening
  • Crew on Weekend Film Production (April)
  • 1 Written Treatment Pitch, Web Series Pilot.
  • 1 Written Script, Web Series Pilot.
  • 1 Written Story/Script- 3 Act Structure.
  • 3 Film Blog Entries
  • 1 Production Binder for at least one of the completed films.
Advanced Senior Students who completed their capstone film over the summer will edit daily until film is complete- No later than Oct 5th. Grades will be determined by progress rubric.
Current Juniors: During Summer 2019 you will create your Senior Thesis Short Film. Some students will have the opportunity to produce their films under the guidance of award-winning industry professional mentor with a budget for equipment rentals. In order to be selected to have your film professionally produced, you will pitch your film to the Pegasus Film Society.

Your mission is to create a short film using a mobile device (shot on smartphones, tablets and drones)—between 2-5 minutes, addressing one of the following themes:

  1. Create a video to inspire your peers to care for the environment.
  2. Create a video highlighting the importance of positivity and kindness in a world where many youth face bullying.
  3. Create a video to remind peers to not drive distracted.
