Film and Video are the newest form of art but they are not a 'new art!'
Video is really only a new tool and not a new form of art.
However it has it's own added inherent elements and principles of art.
ARt is simply something that evokes a reaction. film is art without a doubt! Not as conventional as some might like, but that is the beauty of film! the ability to think out of the box and create.
I personally believe film and video are not "art" at all, they are a simply titles given to anything that is recorded. When you put either an actual title, effort, and/or thought it can only be then labeled as such. In simpler terms, if you spend any of your life's essence into film it is then "art".
Film and Video making is not a NEW art of course, but it is a new thing that a lot of everyday people have taken up. It's a fact that when something is made easy-&" Even a Cave Man can do it!" - then that something becomes more popular and accessible to the general public. When the the average human being can whip out what use to be a thousand dollar camera in an amount of seconds a new age has arisen. Technology- the new mother of fast communication and interaction amongst natural human beings...IS NOW HERE. `SNANPS
Film and video is not a new art, but it is a new tool that is available to a wider audience. Anyone can pick up a camera, film something, and turn a video into a piece of art that stimulates the mind.
It is an art form because it takes some one with realy good skills and natural talent to make a movie that will have people watching from start to finish
film and video is a medium like paint, pen and ink ...in which someone can manipulate to create art. The finished product weather a short film .. a movie , etc. is what Art IS. although is not new form of art it i a recent frontier that has been and will continue to be explored.
Film and Video are both rather new in reality. If you look back on history, people have been making pottery and painting for thousands of years. This doesnt mean that they are not art however. They both incorporate the elements listed above and definitely have a large following that indicates an "art form". There is an entire industry depending on them and if there wasn't, I don't think that they could be considered an art form.
